  1. From Paper to Pixels A Journey to E-Maturity Mick Gilroy: E-Learning Manager ISIS From paper to pixels Project

  2. Why Change? • Traditional "paper based“ portfolios, are a stop/start approach to delivery. • learners and assessors compile documentation to be retained in ring binders, leading to lots of waste and ineffective evidence. • The learner and assessor tend to have short contact meetings, with long periods of inactivity in between. • The whole learning process is inefficient, and for many learners and employers, largely inappropriate and antiquated ISIS From paper to pixels Project

  3. Aims of the Project • Provide two way remote facilities to access qualifications, assessors and Learners. • Replace paper with E-Portfolios. • Use a range of technology to carry out assessments electronically. • Provide staff with the required training and resources to deliver the project. 4. What Else? • To cut down travel time for Assessors. • To save costs on travel expenses. • More time to be spent on learning and assessment. • Give learners greater control over their learning. • To continue to promote ISIS Training as an ILT centre of Excellence. 7. ISIS ILT Strategy • From start of new contract year, 1st Aug 2007, ISIS began to fully implement the new ILT Strategy as follows: • ENVQ became the standard platform for all WBL qualifications. • Paper based portfolios are only used when a learner or employer has a specific need and ENVQ is unsuitable. 8. Implementing the Strategy • E-Learning activities were carefully planned. • Staff were trained in the required ICT Skills through a comprehensive CPD programme. • Learners are assessed to ensure their individual learning needs are met. • E-Learning facilities are appropriately presented and adequately resourced.
