End “Mom, I hate the kids in this neighborhood,” he said, bending his knees so he was as short as Darrell, “Everybody picks on me, Mommy.” Tyray’s voice became high-pitched, as if it he were imitating a young child. Then he heaved his chest and made several loud sobbing noises. Even his face twisted into a false display of sadness and hurt Tyray’s friends laughed so hard they could barely stand.
