When the first pioneers came to America, there were only small, sour apples called crab apples. These apples were not good to eat. Later, pioneers brought apple seeds from their homes in Europe. The pioneers used apples in many ways. They made apple juice, apple butter, and apple pie. The Girl’s Apples One day a little girl was walking through an apple orchard. She decided she wanted to pick some apples to bake an apple pie. When she found the perfect red apple, she reached up, and picked it from the tree. “Ouch!” said the tree, “that hurt!” The little girl apologized to the tree and decided to bake a pumpkin pie instead.
