Results from the first third • WP1: Multiband UWB • literature survey has been started • WP2: Singleband UWB • office (Tietotalo) • channel models ready • outdoors (Riihimäki) • channel models ready • link level simulations almost ready • industry (Stora Enso) • data analysis has not been started yet • multiband interference + MAI simulations in SV-channel • first results available CUBS, the 2nd steering group meeting

WP3: Sensor networks • Niina’s work gives the first estimates for PHY to be used • Energy efficient channel codes for sensor networks • WP4: Co-existence • UWB impact on WCDMA and GSM have been measured in co-operation with PULSERS-project • UMTS • GSM900, GSM1800 • WP5: Capacity • work has been started • analytical work will be done in Finnish Academy project (CASWI) • results will be reported to CUBS CUBS, the 2nd steering group meeting

WP6: Channel measurements • summer trainee has joined the project • modification to the measurement system • VNA -> SPA in long range freq. domain sounder • proposal to Oulu University Hospital has been sent • first response was optimistic • on May 25, JI and MH will visit the hospital presenting our ideas and sounding systems • outdoors • first discussions with Heikki CUBS, the 2nd steering group meeting
