Final Presentations and Exam Review – Sustainable Communities Strategies

In today's session, we will conduct the last mini-presentations on final assignments before reviewing for the upcoming final exam. Please ensure you are aware of the exam date. Refer to the slides from Day 24 for additional context. We will discuss Condon’s 7 Rules for Sustainable Communities, which include concepts such as restoring streetcar cities, designing interconnected street systems, and locating essential services within walking distance. Attention will also be given to job proximity to affordable housing, diverse housing types, and infrastructure investment strategies.

Housekeeping Items • We have a few more mini-presentations on final assignments, and then we’ll start the review for the final exam (everyone know when it is?) – see the slides from Day 24. • Condon’s 7 Rules for Sustainable Communities: 1. Restore the streetcar city. 2. Design an interconnected street system. 3. Locate commercial services, frequent transit, and schools within a five-minute walk. 4. Locate good jobs close to affordable homes. 5. Provide a diversity of housing types. 6. Create a linked system of natural areas and parks. 7. Invest in lighter, greener, cheaper, and smarter infrastructure.
