  1. Success story of steel industries in India Steel is an important mineral that forms the basis for industrial economy both in India and the rest of the world. While the production of steel was considered to be a costly process until 1857 when the Bessemer converter was invested, in India, the steel revolution began when Tata Iron and Steel Company started to produce large amounts of pig iron. The Jamshedpur TISCO plant, then known as Sakchi, began the production of pig iron from December 1908 and also produced the first specimens of steel the next year. By the time India achieved independence in 1947, TISCO has been able to expand its production to about one million tones. During the pre-Independence era, TISCO paved the way to a great extent to a sense of industrial development that fostered a pride in national power. While India was entering a new era of industrial mobilization through the development of TISCO, these initial forays into development were not supported by the British. However, the support of American experts made it easier for Tata to work on their iron and steel production. The First World War gave the Indian iron and steel industry the boost that it required. After the war, IISCO or Indian Iron and Steel Company were formed. Later, the Mysore Iron and Steel Works also took its roots and started working on steel production. Bengal Iron Works merged with IISCO after some time. In 1937, SCOB or Steel Corporation of Bengal was formed that started to make steel in Asansol. SCOB also merged with IISCO later in 1953. Such developments allowed India to make its very own iron and steel supplies. Ever since then, the production of TMT bars has developed into a major industry in its own right in independent India. TMT bars are extensively used in various construction projects, and it is therefore no surprise that people in the construction industry are always looking to know about TMT bar price so that they can make use of the best construction materials. While the steel price today varies from one state to another, TMT steel price largely depends on the quality of the material used to manufacture them. In fact, the TMT bars price is highest for the units that are made for earthquake prone areas of the world.
