Pandemic and response plan • The first plan was developed in Feb,2004. • Plan revised in March, 2007. • Plan is now in a stage of revising. • National Coordination Committee established in 2004. • Advisory and Technical working groups established in 2007. • United Nations Coordinator /WHO/ involved in the committee since 2007.

ASSESSMENT AND SURVEY • The first nation wide Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Assessment was conducted in April 2008, in cooperation with CDC, USA - outbreak response (1,0) assessed in medium level and health sector pandemic response (0,50) was insufficient . • Pandemic Preparedness Assessment in the selected areas was conducted in October, 2008 -outbreak response (1,38 ) assessed in medium level. • The second nation wide Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Assessment was conducted in March 2009, in cooperation with WB - outbreak response (1,45) assessed in medium level and health sector pandemic response (0,85) was slightly improved. • In June 2009, conducted gap analysis cooperation with WPR.

  6. Measures • Developed Plan of Action for Health Sector Pandemic Response in June 2009, based on result of assessment and survey. • Conducted National Consultative Meeting and the Plan is in a stage of revising. • Provided medical and essential supplies (PPE, antiviral drugs, lab supplies and disinfection and sterilization substances) at the national and local levels. • Established national and local rapid response teams and trained and equipped. • Developed guidelines and SOPs. • Strengthened entry and exit screening ( supplied equipments, masks etc) • Conducted several trainings for medical staff. • Conducted table top exercises. • Produced and printed IEC package.

  7. Conclusion Approve revised Pandemic Preparedness Plan. Rapid health care services needs to improve (PPEs, ARSEs, antivirals, vaccine etc). Improve multisectoral approach and rapid response. Strengthen routine epidemiological and laboratory surveillance and case finding. Conduct training and IEC activities.
