A unified approach to learning spatial real estate economics
This study presents a naive model of housing in a mono-centric city, employing fundamental assumptions to analyze urban land economics. The model simplifies complexity by considering a featureless plain, radial travel to a central location, and identical households that maximize welfare through optimal consumption of housing and other goods. Key equations describe the rent gradient and the relationship between housing consumption and distance from the central business district (CBD). The findings serve as a foundation for understanding broader land use dynamics, further enhanced by variations that address building quality, travel congestion, and diverse household types.
