Academic Quality • Intermediate Accounting Readiness – assessment and retention initiative • On-campus Becker CPA Review – preparing students at the graduate level • Revised CIS undergraduate curriculum implemented Fall, 2006 • Developing new concentrations for graduate program in the area of IT Project Management and IT Audit and Security

Academic Quality • Fall 2006 Offered BAD 4000 (Career Issues class) for all majors as an elective • Fall 2007 MGMT • Require MGMT 3940 – Business Ethics • Require MGMT 4680 – Organizational Behavior • Offer MGMT 1500 – First Year Seminar • Require the purchase of The Wall Street Journal in MGMT 3610 for all majors in COB

Student Centered Learning • Partnered with the Career and Employment Center to present the Mock Interview Program, Etiquette Dinner and Alumni Career Mentor Pilot Program • Funded seven graduate assistantships with Business Fee funds • Funded student travel (3) for research paper presentations to Academy of Economics & Finance Annual Meeting

Student Centered Learning • Partial funding for student study abroad in Austria (Summer 2007) • Supported student organization travel to meetings and competitions • Along with SBDC, supported Business Plan Competitions • Seven (7) EXL courses offered in Jones COB • Advisors created Faculty Advising Workshops and Jones COB Advising Newsletter for faculty • Created Advising Website (www.mtsu.edu/~busadv)

Students Financial Management Association chapter earned the FMA Superior Chapter Award for 2006-2007 (Frank Michello – faculty advisor) McNair Scholar: Jeffrey Blackman “Personal Privacy: Risks of the Internet Analysis” Charles Apigian, mentor Matthew Bullington received a $5,000 Phi Kappa Phi academic excellence award for 2007-2008 and was awarded a full scholarship at Vanderbilt University Jo Gilley 2006 ProAm Sellathon winner at the regional conference in Baton Rouge Jo Gilley & Josh Sewell were finalists in the National Pro/Am Sellathon competition

Opportunities "Theory and Practice of Experiential Education" Co-sponsored by Jones College of Business and EXL Scholars ProgramWorkshop leader - Dr. Joe Raelin, the Asa Knowles Chair of Practice-Oriented Education andDirector of the Center for Work and Learning at Northeastern UniversityDate/Time:  Friday, September 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.Dr. Raelin's most recent book is titled Creating Leaderful Organizations:  How to Bring Out Leadership in Everyone.  He has published more than 100 articles in business and professional journals such as Human Resource Planning, Organization Management Journal, Action Learning: Research and Practice, and Academy of Management Learning & Education.The workshop will assist faculty in developing experiential learning class activities and in developing approaches to using reflective thinking as a learning tool.To make reservations for the workshop, e-mail jaustin@mtsu.edu.
