  2. Lynne Hadid (Bedwas Infant School) Sally Madsen (The Twyn School) Ceri Hughes (YGG Caerfilli) Richard Carbis (YGG Y Castell) Caroline Williams (Ystrad Mynach Juniors) Phil Edwards (Cwmaber Junior School) Dale Warner (White Rose Primary School) Sally Williams (Tynywern Primary School) Paul Guest (Crumlin High School) Ruth Turner (St Martin’s Comprehensive School) Jennie Fisher (Risca Comprehensive School) Eirian Jones (YG Cwm Rhymni) Jaime Duggan (Rhymney Comprehensive School) During 2005-2006, a number of teachers from schools within CCBC worked together to provide a range of pupil work to exemplify standards in science. The teachers who compiled the portfolio of work were: Additional work and help was also provided by staff at Tiryberth Primary, Cwrt Rawlin Primary, Machen Primary, Blackwood Comprehensive, Oakdale Comprehensive and Heolddu Comprehensive. The work collected from these schools has been organised and annotated to: • illustrate the ‘levelness’ of the work by comparison with the appropriate level description and by • analysing the extent to which there is an appropriate match; • indicate appropriate ‘next steps’ that pupils and teachers could take to The electronic portfolio is the key outcome of the project and will provide some guidance for assessment within CCBC schools. The portfolio should make it easier for clusters of schools to ensure consistency in assessment within and across key stages 2 and 3. My thanks to the parents of all pupils who gave permission for work to be included in the portfolio.    AT 1 AT 2 AT 3 AT 4 Close

  8. • The CCBC Science Portfolio: - Progress in Science. • The CD-Rom has four folders and a ‘start’ button as shown. • The 4 ‘AT’ folders contain sets of Word files, some of which show examples of levelled work that exemplifies day-to-day assessment of pupils against level descriptions. • The moderated work can be viewed by clicking the Start button, which opens a Graphic Interface. This will allow you to view the pupils’ work. It will also enable you to edit and re-organise the work.

  9. • This is the front page of the CCBC Science Portfolio: • The toolbar at the bottom of the page is found on all pages of the portfolio • This toolbar allows you to navigate around the portfolio (See instructions) Background information The 4 attainment targets Frontpage How to edit the portfolio

  10. • This is the ‘AT2 -Life Processes’ page within the portfolio. It has 42 programmed buttons formed in a grid. • The buttons start at the top left • with a1, and work their way • across and down, finishing with f7 • Each button is linked to a • specific word document, which • has the same ‘name’ as the • button; e.g. f7 • These word documents are • stored in the KS2-3 Life • processes folder. The same • situation applies to ATs 1, 3 and 4. • Some documents contain • pupils work, but others are • blank and could be replaced • with your pupils’ work as it becomes • available.

  11. • This is the ‘Life Processes’ folder. • All four folders contain 42 word documents names from a1 to f7 • The letter in a name, e.g. a. indicates which column of buttons it is linked to • The number in a name, e.g. 1 indicates which row of buttons it is linked to • So file a1 is opened by button a1 • Some of these word documents contain pupils moderated work and some are • blank, but could be replaced with a file containing pupils work, as it becomes • available • If you want to replace a blank file with a new file, then just save the new file, • naming it for the file you wish to replace, e.g. if c6 is blank, then create a new • file containing pupils’ work, click on ‘Save As’ and name it c6 – you will be • asked if you want to replace the existing file – click Yes.
