  2. The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived Wept! • Jesus wept. (John 11:35 RSV) • And when he drew near and saw the city he wept over it, (Luke 19:41 RSV) • In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard for his godly fear. (Hebrews 5:7 RSV)

Things To Weep Over • Division • Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. (1 Corinthians 1:10 NKJV) • Romans 6:17-18 NKJV • John 17:11 • Neglect • Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, (Hebrews 2:1-3 NKJV)

  5. Things To Weep Over • Miseries • Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. (James 5:1-4 RSV) • Unfaithfulness • For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overpowered, the last state has become worse for them than the first. (2 Peter 2:20 RSV) • 2 Peter 2:21-22

  6. Things To Weep Over • Lukewarmness • "'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16 RSV) • Attitude of Preachers • not that there is another gospel, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, If any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:7-9 RSV)

Things To Weep Over • Ignorance • The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all men everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all men by raising him from the dead." (Acts 17:30-31 RSV) • Laziness • Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; (Philippians 2:12 RSV) • Matthew 25:14-30

  8. Things To Weep Over • Lack of Faith • And without faith it is impossible to please him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 RSV) • For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, "He who through faith is righteous shall live." (Romans 1:17 RSV) • Joy • And I ask you also, true yokefellow, help these women, for they have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. (Philippians 4:3-4 RSV) • 1 Peter 4:13

  9. What Should Our Attitude Be? • "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. (Matthew 5:3-6 RSV) • Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. (Romans 12:15 RSV)

  10. God Wants You To Be With Him! • "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NKJV) • Believe (Mk. 16:16) • Repent (Acts 2:38) • Confess (Rom. 10:9,10) • Be Baptized (Acts 22:16) • Keep Seeking Things Above (Col. 3:1-3)
