  1. ImAGINE, FOR INSTANCE THAT: … You meet and greet Hannah at the door. Her mother Davina says that Hanna has been abit grizzly over night and the naturopath has suggested that she be given five drops of a specially formulated mixture every three hours. Davina then hands you an unmarked brown bottle and says she would prefer that you add the drops to Hannah’s food or drink as she usually makes a fuss about taking it. Do you agree to do so?

  2. ... Chris arrives at out of school care one afternoon and mentions that he wants you to make sure that Jack takes two small capsules as soon as he arrives at the centre. The container he gives you has another person’s name on the bottle. When you ask him why this is the case he says that the tablets had been prescribed for Jack’s older brother and were used to ‘calm and settle’. Chris says that he cannot cope with the boy’s noise and energy when they get home. These tablets calm the boys and allow him a chance to relax after his twelve hour shift as a taxi driver. What do you do?

  3. … Sue – Paul’s mother brings a bottle of over the counter cough mixture to the centre and asks you to give Paul the recommended dose throughout the day. Do you do so?

  4. Linda sends a note to you via her daughter’s nanny that her daughter Jeri has just been immunised. Linda goes on to say that the Doctor has suggested administering Paracetamol to reduce the risks of side effects of the vacine and wants you give Paracetamol to Jeri. What do you do?

  5. … Mat delivers four year old Phoebe to the centre and presents you with a bottle of drops in Phoebe’s name and a letter from her doctor stating that she is to be given two drops twice a day. Mat comments that the two drops aren’t enough and that he and his partner have been giving her four drops each time. He requests that you continue with his four drop regime. Do you follow his instructions or those provided by the doctor?
