  1. Shipping Electronic Goods: Everything you should know Gadget freaks like to have various kinds of gadgets and are ready to spend good amount to buy these from all across the world, which is why demand for shipping electronic gadgets is always high. But, shipping electronic devices is not like shipping other kinds of freight; it can be tricky and requires special attention. Shipping electronic devices can create hazards when not packed properly and so, we have highlighted a few tips to guide you about shipping of electronic goods: 1.Ask if it is best to remove lithium-ion batteries People usually assume that it is safer to take the batteries out than to leave them enclosed within the device, but it’s not true. Lithium-ion batteries may start to smoulder or in worst case catch fire on building too much static electricity, the probabilities of which are higher in ordinary packaging. On the contrary, electronic devices are deigned to keep the batteries grounded when they are switched off thus minimizing the risk of causing any fire. 2.Try not to use packaging foam Besides keeping the lithium-ion batteries inside the devices, you should also avoid packing it in certain materials to eliminate the risk of static build-up. For instance, materials like packing peanuts can create static charge and should therefore be avoided. 3.Make the on/off button inoperable during transit Electronic devices when operational can heat up and set fire to its packaging; you should ensure that neither the device is switched-on nor it gets switched-on accidentally when in

  2. transit. In order to do this, cover the device’s on/off button, tape over it or ship it inoperable. 4.Seal up the box Once the electronics are safely kept in the box, seal it up. Electronic items can be complex and being in transit can affect the placement of its internal components and thus their functionality, so it’s important to pack them such that all the components stay intact. After these are nestled in the box, packaging tape should be used to seal all seams and flaps on the top of the box. Tap up every corner of the box as good packing tape adds extra support. 5.Fill up the custom form accurately It’s important to fill up the custom form with perfection, especially when filling it out for something as valuable as an electronic device. Know the right value of the device, because filling an incorrect lower value can cause you loss in terms of compensation when something happens during shipping and overestimating the cost can cause you excessive level of customs tax. So while these were some of the important tips, you can rely on a good freight forwarder’s services for the shipping of electronic goods.
