Energy Performance Contract • History • Recognized opportunity to reduce energy consumption by modernization of facility building systems through Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) Lighting Occupancy Sensors Motors & Fan Drives Water Conservation • Utilized State Energy Performance Contract Program to evaluate, interview and select an energy performance contractor • Contracts are funded through annual energy savings

  9. Energy Performance Contract • History • Selected NORESCO for Phase I - 2006 • 18 Schools • 7 Energy Conservation Measures • Completed April 2007 • Selected NORESCO for Phase II - January 2010 • 8 Schools • 4 Energy Conservation Measures • Estimated Completion October 2011

Energy Performance Contract • Phase II – Update • In June 2010 NORESCO initiated Detailed Energy Audit • Survey of 8 school division facilities: Hampton Oaks ES , Park Ridge ES, Winding Creek ES, Drew MS, AG Wright MS, Brook Point HS, Mountain View HS, and the Professional Development Center • Four (4) energy conservation measures (ECM’s) • Audit Completion – November 24, 2010 • Approval process Completed - January 14, 2011 • Estimate Start Work – June 9, 2011 • Estimate Completion of Work- October 30, 2011

Energy Performance Contract Energy Conservation Measures Selected • ECM #1 - Efficient Lighting • ECM #2 - Occupancy Sensors in classrooms, hallways, offices, gyms) • ECM #3 - Water Conservation (low flush) • ECM #4 - Variable Fan Drives & Efficient Motors for HVAC Equipment • Estimated Annual Energy Cost Savings = $199,500.00 per year Guaranteed You can achieve 100% Energy Saving WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE LIGHTS

New & Future Energy Reduction Efforts • Implement School Division Energy Management Plan - Approved June 2010 - Road Map to Comprehensive Energy Management - Goals Utilize Performance Contracting Efforts where applicable Grow Energy Steering Committee participants ideas Develop a program to evaluate facility exterior envelopes Work with Operation Staff to fine tune facilities even more - Components Education Waste Reduction & Operational Guidelines Retro-Commissioning Monitoring & Reporting Sustainable Practices for Staff and Students

New & Future Energy Reduction Efforts Retro-Commissioning Efforts • Retro-Commission at least one school per year • Completed BPHS in FY11 • DMS and PRES in FY12 Continue Holiday, Spring & Summer Break Temperature Control Measures Complete Energy Performance Contract (Phase II) Plan Energy Performance Contract (Phase III) Identified in FY11-16 CIP  Work with Rodney Thompson Staff to Construct a Wind Generator
