  1. Milk VS. Vinegar Experiment #2 Adelyn Rivero Mr. Hankins Period 1 12.1.11

  2. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • HYPOTHESIS: • If I freeze distill vinegar then it will be faster than milk. • ABSTRACT: • The problem was, which of the two substances was faster to distill, milk or vinegar? It was hypothesized that if I freeze distill vinegar then it will distill faster. The procedure followed was first measure 2 ounces of milk and vinegar. Then, pour it into the bottles. Next, cover the top of the bottles with tape and put the bottles in and leave in the freezer for 3 hours. Then, after the 3 hours put the bottles face down in each cup. Measure the time each liquid took to separate from the water. Last, compare the times to see which distills faster. It was concluded that, vinegar freeze distills faster than milk. The results of the experiment supported the hypothesis.

  3. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • PROCEDURE: • Measure 2 ounces of ink and vinegar • Pour into the bottles • Cover the top of the bottles with tape • Put in and leave in the freezer for 3 hours • After the 3 hours put the bottles face down in each cup • Measure the time each liquid took to separate • Compare the times to see which distills faster • Repeat steps 1-7 two more times

  4. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • MATERIALS: • Freezer • Vinegar • Ink • Glass bottles • Measuring cup • Timer • 2 cups • Tape

  5. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • VARIABLES: • Independent: The substance. • Dependent: How fast the substance distills. • CONSTANTS: • The amount of milk, amount of vinegar, fat in milk, color of vinegar, time in the freezer.

  6. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • CONTROL: • The control of this experiment would be the same amount of milk and vinegar but without being distilled. • DATA:

  7. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • DATA (continued):

  8. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • DATA (continued) 1st trial of milk. 1st trial of vinegar. 2nd trial of vinegar. 3rd trial of vinegar. 2nd trial of milk. 3rd trial of milk.

  9. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • RESULTS: • My result for this experiment is that vinegar freeze distills faster than milk. I found out that the reason why vinegar distills faster through the freezing process because the freezing point of vinegar is a lot lower than that of milk.

  10. Which of the two substances, milk or vinegar, freeze distills faster? • CONCLUSION: • The conclusion for this experiment is that vinegar freeze distills faster than milk. That is because vinegar has a freezing point at a temperature much lower than that of milk. Meaning, at the temperature at which milk is still frozen,(very close to that of water) the vinegar will already be melting, so it will distill faster. The hypothesis was proven correct. I hypothesized that if you freeze distill vinegar, and then it will be faster than milk, which was right.

  11. Which of the two substances, milk or ink, freeze distills faster? • HYPOTHESIS: • If I freeze distill ink it will be faster than milk . • ABSTRACT: • The problem was, which of the two substances was faster to distill, milk or ink? It was hypothesized that if I freeze distill ink then it will distill faster. The procedure followed was first measure 2 ounces of milk and ink. Then, pour it into the bottles.
