What you can do to help your kids succeed at school? • Homework, homework, homework!! 至少要做好功課(the minimum requirement) • Involvement 大家的參與及熱情!! • Continuously encouraging kids to participate school activities • Parents’ own involvement in all school events and passion in Chinese language and culture • Help and support to school/PTA 支持及贊助學校!! • Tell your friends and coworkers about this great school告訴您的朋友們!!

  5. What you can do to help your kids succeed at school? • Help and support to school/PTA 支持及贊助學校!! • SDCA is a Non-profit organization!! No funding from any government or country. • Donation • Money • School supplies • Gift basket • Food • Company match program • Product or anything can be sold in the auction • Purchase scrips and do e-scrips • Place your Ad on our publication • Check on our website • contact school/teacher/room parents/board members

PTA Purpose and Function我們為什麼要有家長會呢? • Strives to unite parents and teachers in working towards better schools and education • Promotes parent involvement in school • 3-hours learning per week at school is definitely not enough to becoming fluent in any language • Parents need a place to _ _ _ _ _ . PTANew InitiativesNinja Workout Club(NWC)健人就是腳勤俱樂部 And of course you don’t want you kids to look like this • Purpose: In order to promote regular exercise and let Mom andDad better utilize the time during school hours, PTAwill start a workout program that not only helps parentsfind their “workout buddies”, but also sets a good examplefor your kids. 當我們的小孩在努力的學習中文時，為了讓爸爸媽媽能利用這個時間強健體魄，家長會特地推出一個有益健康的活動，希望進而增進家長之間的互動及鼓勵扶持達到運動健身的目的，也給小朋友一個好榜樣。不論你是對某種運動特別喜好或專長，或是希望學習新的運動，我們都歡迎呼朋引伴參加這個活動。

  9. 每個家長可以參與一到數個運動團體 (例如羽球、棒球、登山健行、衝浪、足球、瑜珈…等等)，自己設定目標，利用平時空閒或中文學校時間往目標邁進。每個團體會有一個隊長，負責鼓勵隊員持續達到個人及團體的目標，並統計團體的總體成果。學期結束時我們會對最精實的團隊予以表揚獎勵! • Program Details: • Several clubs to join (badminton, baseball, hiking, surfing, soccer, yoga…) • You set your own goal (time, minimum 30 minutes per week) • 10-week program (10/6 – 12/8, ends before student store week) • You log your time through our Google Doc Spreadsheet • Each club has a captain to help keep track of team members’ progress and motivate them to achieve the goals • Will offer student coupons to all the captains and the winning club members

PTA New InitiativesShare and Learn Club (SLC)大朋友俱樂部 • 十月份October: 第一次活動開跑了! • 活動主題: 如何引導孩子學習中文及提高興趣 • 中文學習軟體、中文學習資源, 經驗分享交流會 • 十一月份 November: • (11/10) 講座1:健康講座-由學校中的醫師家長們提供 Seminar I: Health Seminar provide by doctors from school families • (11/24) 假期美食購物抽獎: 暫訂美食團購活動 • 十二月份 December: • 活動主題: 麻將、圍棋、象棋 教學 • 兩個禮拜的寒假, 讓你們的小朋友也一起來學習我們的國粹

  12. 一月份 January: • (01/05/14) 講座 2: 升大學中文 AP 測驗以及學分班的經驗分享 Seminar 2: Experience sharing on Chinese AP exam and credit class toward college. • 二月份 February: • 活動主題: 品茶、 品酒 基礎概念討論會 • 讓我們以茶酒會友, 一起分享你珍藏已久的寶貝~~ • 三月份 March: • (03/09/14) 講座 3:如何引導孩子學習創業的觀念和技巧及金錢管理Seminar 3: How to guide our children in learning entrepreneurial attitudes and money management concept?

  13. 四月份 April: • 活動主題: 暑假快到了, 有什麼家庭旅遊計畫嗎?? • 加州露營景點的經驗之談及暑假小朋友生活規劃分享 • 五月份 May: • 結業典禮到了, 替我們努力上一年中文的小朋友加加油吧~~ • 請大家踴躍參加學校的謝師宴來慰勞我們辛苦的老師

  15. SDCA Room Parent 中華學苑班代表 班代表除了協助老師處理班務、聯絡班上同學的家長以外, 最重要的角色就是要增進每個家庭和理事會、PTA之間的溝通. 學校的每一項活動都需要各位家長踴躍的參與. 讓小朋友們在學習中文上更有興趣, 也有更多元化的學習方式! Room parents serve as a communication bridge between the teacher/school/PTA. Through more participation, our children get to learn more about Chinese culture and enhance their interest through various activities.

  16. 班代表的責任Room parent duties: • 參加班代表大會, 將學校活動的消息發送給每個家庭, 鼓勵家長和小朋友踴躍參加 Participate in room parents meeting and pass information to parents in the class. Encourage parents and children to participate in school activities. • 在 Picture Day, Fire drill, Coupon Day 和學校的一些班級比賽給予老師適時的幫助 Assist teacher with students on picture day, fire drill, school-wide competition, as well as coupon day. • 安排與協調中國新年班級活動 Coordinate class New Year Festival booth participation and arrange parents volunteering shifts;

  17. 與班上各家庭一起準備小禮物在特別的節日當中送給我們辛苦的老師.以及班上的 PARTY 已慰勞努力上課的小朋友們 . Collect gifts from parents for the Teacher Appreciation Dinner as well as special holiday such as CNY red envelope. Year-end class party planning where permitted by the teacher. • 鼓勵每位家長多多參與學校辦的活動來增進小朋友和每個家庭之間的聯繫 Encourage parents to join any school events to have a better relationship within our big family.
