We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

  8. Article 4 Relationship among states – states honor laws of other states. In other words, if you commit a crime in one state, you are considered a criminal in all states.

  9. Article 5 The founding fathers had the wisdom to know that at times the Constitution would need to be amended. This article provides the authority and guidelines for amending the Constitution. To amend the Constitution, 2/3’s of BOTH houses must ratify the amendment.

  10. Definitions and explanations • Ratification – to approve; confirm The approval of nine states was required to establish the Constitution as the supreme law.

  11. Article 6 This article states that the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land. What does this mean? That every law created in the US MUST be within the limits of the Constitution. Congress or a state cannot create a law that is in opposition to the Constitution. The Constitution governs all laws in this land!
