Practicum Workshop and Mentoring Program for Male Nursing students

Hennepin Technical College, in collaboration with local hospitals and care centers, has developed a comprehensive series of workshops aimed at supporting both US-born and non-US-born male nursing students in successfully navigating their clinical coursework. Our data revealed that many students struggled during this critical phase, prompting us to implement this program. The primary objective is to enhance completion rates for male nursing students pursuing their LPN diplomas and to better prepare them for passing the state board exam, fostering a more diverse nursing workforce.

    1. Practicum Workshop and Mentoring Program for Male Nursing students Statement of Purpose or Need: Hennepin Technical College, in partnership with local hospitals and care centers, coordinated a series of workshops that assisted US born and Non US born male nursing students to make a successful transition through their clinical coursework. Our data suggested that students were performing poorly once they began their clinical coursework. Therefore, our goal was to increase the number of male nursing students to complete their LPN diplomas and potentially pass the state board exam.
