Vision of Innovation What is your overall vision for your school? • Our vision is to actively engage the school learning community in authentic learning projects to develop responsible global citizens What are the most important changes you envision for students? • Students will be confident, literate, numerate and resilient and able to make positive contributions to society • Staff and students will work collaboratively across local, national and global communities • Students will be creative and curious learners who access a supportive technology rich environment How does this vision connect with your goals for being part of the Innovative Schools Program? • Taking collaborative action within authentic learning tasks will generate and engage enthusiastic communities of practice

  3. Current Status What elements of your vision are in place now? Developing Global Connections Through: • Virtual Universities • Brazil forum • Taking It Global – South East Asia Global Project • Joining of online communities • Study tour of Turkey – connections made in Brazil What needs to be completed in this vision phase? Paradigm shift that includes the following: • Increased evidence of Student Voice including co-construction of learning • Beginning stages of personalised learning - working through the developmental stages of learning, developing skills for self directed and collaborative learning • Better use of online collaboration tools eg. Groove, One Note, Super Clubs Plus

Current Status cont… What are the top 3 things you most want to change in the next two years? • Children being involved in global thinking to develop a sense of global responsibility • Learning Communities involved in consultation for collaborative projects • Greater evidence of personalisation and differentiation of learning

  5. Ideas for Attaining the Vision • What are your thoughts about ways that your school’s vision is currently supported in each of the following possible areas? Teaching, learning and assessment • Students working within a technology rich environment eg 1:1 computing, ‘anytime ,anywhere access’ Leadership and culture of innovation • Layers of Leadership: leadership as an influence relationship • Research based action projects • Willing to take risk ; ‘have a go’ Capacity building • Coaching models • Having processes and protocols around teams • Access to professional development

Ideas for Attaining the Vision cont… Learning environment development • Strength based • Move to flexible learning spaces that encourage collaborative learning • Facilitate personal learning styles • Access to indoor outdoor learning environment • Students able to access technologies as suited and as required Student Voice • Move towards co construction of curriculum • Student leadership program • Project based learning

Anticipated Challenges What challenges do you anticipate encountering along the journey toward achieving your vision? • Teacher capacity in using Web 2.0 tools for learning • Purposeful use of ICT in learning • Community Connections – How to minimise cultural and language restrictions and maximise participation • Supporting our parents in their own learning so they are better able to support the learning of their children How have you overcome some of the challenges? • Use of coaching models eg. student/student, teacher/teacher, professional coach/teacher, student/teacher • Extensive professional development programs • Community Hub used to facilitate Adult Education and information sessions

  8. How can Innovative Schools community help? • By being part of a large scale global learning community • Sharing, consultation and communication • Having access to global platforms eg. Taking IT Global, PIL, Linked In • As educators with have the Vygotsky’s ‘expert other’ no matter where in the world we are
