  7. Increasing Alumni Involvement - Problem Way it is - multiple events taking place, but participation is low, efforts diffused Way it looks - chimes falling down stairs, scattered, fragmented, inefficient

Increasing Alumni Involvement - Problem • Way it should be - campus-wide, collaborative effort to develop a lifelong connection and commitment to the university that starts with the students’ first year on campus • Benefits of the way it should be - enhanced value of degree and university image, richer programs

  9. Root Causes of the Problem • Began with ten possible causes • Narrowed to four • Collapsed four into the following: The institution lacks a long term plan and sufficient investment in developing positive alumni relationships

  10. Pertinent Data • 3,500 alumni out of over 100,000 are active alumni donors • Over 45 alumni events identified • 2 - 10 % participation rate depending on target audience and nature of event

  12. Additional Data • Over 700 Greek members • Student government/SLI • Faculty understanding of diverse student body • Lack of systematic data collection • Campuswide coordination of activities
