  6. Promises of the Treaties • TREATY 4- (at Fort Qu’appelle and Fort Ellice) • There was and increase in the number of settlers arriving on the land and moving further west this led to a decline in the number of buffalo which threatened the First Nations way of life.

  7. Promises of the Treaties • TREATY 4- • PROVISIONS FOR FIRST NATIONS • Annuities-$5/person $15/headman $25/chief • Reserves • Agricultural implements • Schools and teacher • Right to hunt/fish/trap

  9. Benefits of the Treaties FIRST NATIONS • Would have access to food supply through farming • Access to medical assistance during times of disease
