  5. Supplies • 3 Ring Binder • Notebook Paper • Graph paper • PENCILS! (no ink pens…) • GRAPHING CALCULATOR!!!! TI-83 or higher

  6. Textbook • Green Algebra and Trigonometry Text-McDougal Littell/Houghton Mifflin • ISBN 0-395-58536-8—can buy on Amazon but not required • Only available in class—homework from text will be on printouts sent home each night.

  7. Honors Math 3 Topics • Solving Equations and Inequalities (Absolute value, linear, radicals, compositions) • Graphing Functions (Transformations and Toolkit Functions, Inverses) • Exponential and Log Functions • Polynomial Functions • Modeling and Reasoning with Geometry • Rational Functions • Trigonometry • Statistics

Homework/Daily work • Includes class work and homework • Homework is assigned DAILY! • Homework is announced in class and distributed on a calendar. • Homework answers • Reviewed daily in class • Homework Grading Policy • Due at the BEGINNING of the next class • Late homework NOT accepted • Graded on completion not accuracy • Includes drawing a picture, showing mathematical work, writing a meaningful question, etc

  11. How to Study for Math! • To study for math, you must DO math! • “looking over” notes/homework/quizzes is not enough • Students should rework problems from the following: • Notes • Homework • Warm ups • Quizzes • Review Sheet

  12. Grading Policy • Quarter • Homework/Classwork – 10% • Quizzes/other minor assessments – 20% • Tests – 70% • Semester • 1st Quarter – 40% • 2nd Quarter – 40% • Final – 20% Grading scale: • A 90-100 • B 80-89 • C 70-79 • D 60-69 • F 59 and below

  13. Grading • Homework graded for completeness daily • Please allow 48 hours for major assignments • All classes on Powerschools/HomeBase

  15. Absentee Policy • Policy in Handbook • Homework • Calendar/Website/Remind • Friends • Classwork • Quizzes or Tests • 2 weeks from date of assignment to make it up • Posted on calendar

  16. Cell Phones • Cell phones should not be out during lessons and class work—they are a huge distraction!! • Cell phones WILL NOT be allowed out for any reason during a quiz or a test. • A visible cell phone during a quiz or test will result in a failing grade. • Includes after a student has finished their own assessment.

  17. Cheating/Plagarism Policy • Any student caught sharing their work with other students or caught copying another student’s work will be given a failing grade. • Includes taking pictures of an assignment and copying • Formal policy in LRHS handbook

  18. Extra Help • Smart Lunch • Mondays: Period 1 • Tuesdays: Period 2 • Wednesdays: Period 3 • Thursdays: Period 4 • Fridays: Any class • I will alert students to scheduling conflicts
