Specifically, the 44 trains will be 1.6 meters compared to the existing 1.4 meters trains available at present. For maintaining the travel safety and efficiency of trains, it will include key monitoring features like diagnostic systems for the early detection of faults and condition monitoring. With the availability of such protective features in new trains, passengers will feel completely safe during the transit process from one part of Singapore to another. One more interesting fact associated with the introduction of 44 new trains for SMRT's Cross Island Line is the massive investment of $589 million. The contract comes with SMRT’s futuristic vision of adopting 11 additional trains along with the provision of Long-Term Service Support (LTSS).
