  5. Big Hint! • Keep a notebook of labs • Skills from one lab will be used in ensuing labs • Details may not be repeated in later labs! • Better: • Keep a “cheat sheet” of commands used in the labs

General • Lab is isolated • No internet connections • “Dangerous” environment • “No food or drink” • Stow backpacks, etc. safely • Put under tables, in room corner, etc. • Room is crowded • Leave room for TA and instructor to navigate! • Ports behind podium • VERBOTEN!!! • Connected to the campus internet • No connections without instructors permission • An F for the course if caught!

Documenting Labs • Write up is free format • Should have and introductory and summary • Many lab steps have ** • Those step must be documented • Note what was done • Note what the result was • Also: • Answer all questions • Explain where it says "Note" • Note: • Linux is text oriented • Text must be documented with text copies • GUI screen captures will have points deducted • Unless it is naturally GUI, e.g. a browser
