Week 10 IT 39 Questions and negations • This teacher led activity aims to reinforce writing the past tense when the verb ending differs according to whether someone did or did not do the action which is being questioned, • e.g. Did he walk to school yesterday? Yes, he walked to school yesterday. • Did he walk to school on Saturday? No, he did not walk to school on Saturday. • There are 2 example slides which illustrate this difference when writing in the past tense. These are followed by the 15 task questions. • The child’s task is to decide which form is correct for the sentence, • i.e. ‘verb +ed’ for ‘ ‘yes’ answers’ or ‘did not + verb’ for ‘ ‘no’ answers’ • The next 2 slides are the answer sheet for each child to go along with the IT presentation, and should be printed, and given out to the children before the start. • Children should write in their answer on the answer sheet and then be ready to explain why they chose that answer beforereceiving feedback on screen to see if their choice was correct.
