  2. Reality After Project Completion • 2 million people today still suffering from water logging • 144 villages inundated and people struggling for a solution

  3. How ADB Violates its Env. Policy • ADB failed to conduct inclusive consultation on its EIA • Failure to make EIA available to public • Failed to respond to local input or recognize local knowledge • Failed to properly implement Alternative Proposal (TRM) proposed by Project Affected-People and endorsed by ADB’s consultants • Regional Environmental conditions not properly integrated in engineering solution

  4. Conclusion • ADB claims “successful” project; However, People still living in waterlogged environment ADB must improve environmental safeguards and their implementation. ADB must have better indicators for success in implementing its safeguards.
