  7. Ephesians 5:15-21 15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; 21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

  8. Eph 5:15-18 The Worthy Walk 15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,  16making the most of your time, because the days are evil.  Be about the Lord’s business. 17So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.  Foolish is self-ness 18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

  9. Be Filled with the Spirit And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,  • Historic Cultural Context for the comparison • “They believed that drunkenness was simply the door into ecstasy, the door into religious expression. And at such drunkenness elevated the believer, the worshiper, to total communion with the deities. So drunkenness was the key to worship, to communion with the deities. “ • Common denominator in this phrase • What is entailed in being filled with the Spirit?

  10. Be Filled with the Spirit And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,  • Historic Cultural Context for the comparison • Common denominator in this phrase • What is entailed in being filled with the Spirit? • Colossians 3:16 • Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. • How to empty air from within a glass?

  11. Relationships begin with “Being Filled With the Spirit” 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, (take you down, ruin you) but be filled with the Spirit, Obedience to the Word, results in: • Joy speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;  • Thankfulness always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;and • Submission be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

  12. Spirit Fill Submission Submission be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. • Your success is my success あなたが成功すれば、私も成功する。 • What do I nee to do to help you success? • Submission and humility are not talking about position, authority or roles of life. It is an attitude with those structures.

  13. Spirit Fill Submission Submission in Scriptures • Eph 5:21 Submit to each other • 1 Corinthians 16:16, "Submit yourselves to everyone." • Hebrews 13:17, "Submit yourselves to the leaders of the church." • 1 Peter 2:15...2:13 rather, "Submit yourselves to the laws of the land." • 1 Peter 5:5, "Submit yourselves to those older than you are." • James 4:7, "Submit yourselves to God."

  14. Spirit Fill Submission Submission: Jesus Style • John 13:14 If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.  • Phil 2:3-8Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.  Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

  15. Spirit Filled Submission • We do not submitbecause we are told to • We submitbecause the Christ in us wants to humbly serve through us. • 神に変わって As an extension of God It is the working of HIS power THAT THE WORLD WILL KNOW CHRIST
