Dewey Decimal System • Developed by the librarian Melvil Dewey in 1876. • Classification system to organize materials in libraries. • When looking for a book remember to look from the top to the bottom and left to right on the shelves. • 10 categories based on content….the following five slides are the different categories and examples in each category.
