  3. Japan’s Tsunami Area • Some scientists saythat the Japan Tsunami traveled 6 miles inland damaging many homes! • Although the waterkept going for 4 moremiles while blowing out a factory and a hospital. Reaching a total of 10 miles!

  4. Repairing Homes!!! • The tragedy covered mostly the entire country of Japan. • Homes were torn and were in piles of wood. • Fires occurred and floods were taking place. • Factories and hospitals were completely destroyed. • Water had overflowed over cars, streets and SOME houses. • Some streets were cracked and some were flooded. • To repair the entire state it nearly cost 300 billion dollars for damages caused by Tsunami!!!

The Human Effect • Unfortunately many people died during the Tsunami. • 200-300 bodies were found dead underneath the water! • 547 people are missing from the Tsunami! • 798 humans are terribly injured with legs, arms and even fingers damaged or GONE! Most people had torn muscles and back pain!! : (

  6. FunFacts At the same time of the Tsunami there was an Earthquake that had already passed. Water was over 12 feet high. Fires were sprouting everywhere The day it came was March 11, 2011 at 2:46 p.m.

How to prepare for Tsunamis • To prepare for Tsunamis we can start off by moving to higher ground immediately when you feel the ground rumble! • If there are NO higher areas you should immediately move inland away from any water. When there’s an earthquake there is most likely going to be a tsunami in minutes. • Scramble off ASAP!!!!!!!

Safety Tips • When you live in coastal areas listen to the radio for Tsunami warnings! • Plan an evacuation route to higher grounds for easy escape! • Know certain warning signs of a Tsunami! • Never stay and watch a Tsunami come in! • A Tsunami is a series of waves so don’t return to an affected coast until it is all clear
