  2. INTRO • Everyone deserves proper health treatment • But what happens when government intervenes?

  3. MY Stakeholder

  4. If government provides a public healthcare along with private • “Healthcare reform, if it passes, will cost about $1 trillion over the next 10 years” (Health Care Reform: What It Will Cost You, Andrews) • Extending Medicare and Medicaid when the US is having trouble funding it now • This means higher taxes for families with a combined income of just over $100,000

  5. Negative effect of Baucus Bill (Required by law to have insurance and extends Medicare and Medicaid) • Just like with car insurance, law breakers will make insured pay a surcharge to cover them. Insurance costs are already seeing large increases • The Flexible Spending Account does not cover over the counter drugs anymore and have been limited dramatically (money for medical that will not be taxed). • Those who do not think it is feasible to be insured will now be forced to buy it

  6. What should be done? • Competition is healthy for any business to provide the best quality service at a reasonable price. • The possibility of healthy life-style deductions in order to give incentives to people to keep themselves healthy. • Base clinics for people without insurance to get proper care. Small entrance fees around $50 or so. • Tort reform- doctors have to charge a lot in order to pay for malpractice insurance. Fewer ridiculous lawsuits against doctors so they can decrease charges.

  7. Conclusion Healthcare should not drive the US into an inescapable debtand be more affordable forall
