  2. Step 1Identify Parts

  3. Solder four Resistors and one Diode

  4. Solder two Headers

  5. Solder IC Socket

  6. Solder Relay

  7. Solder Capacitor

  8. Solder Voltage Regulator

  9. Solder Light-emitting Diode

  10. Solder I/O Port

  11. Bolt and Solder DB-9 Connector

  12. Solder Battery Snap

  13. Now Test! • Check quality of solders • Look for a short between terminals in the battery snap • Look for +5 volts on the IC socket • Programming test

  14. Solder pads should be small and shiny

  15. Set a DMM to measure continuityYou don’t want to hear it ring!

  16. Set DMM to DC Volts (20 V scale)Want to measure 4.75 to 5.25 volts • +5 volts on pin #1 and ground on pin #8

  17. Insert PICAXE-08M2

  18. Programming Test • Correct mode: PICAXE-08M2 • Correct Serial Port • Two line program

  19. Debug Screen
