  2. Embroidery has come a long way from its daisies and rainbow days. Now, it has got a rock 'n' roll vibe about it. Embroidery kurtas allow you to indulge in embellishments without having to change your day-to-day style. After flying under the radar for sometime, it has made a comeback and it has moved from its traditional style to taking-the-world-by-the-storm designs. From runways to street fashion, these days there is a small part of embroidery somewhere. Either it is your traditional outfit which you wear to your friend's sangeet function where you want to stand out, or a weekend trip to a beach where you prefer to keep it chic, this design seems to play an important role these days in every girl's wardrobe. The beauty of embroidery is that any girl who wears it will look beautiful. So instead of thinking too much, just add that little extra flare to your outfit right away. Here are the list of styles you can find in embroidery kurtas that you cannot say no to. Zardozi: It is believed that this pattern has been in existence since the Rig Veda period. Zardozi work is a form of embroidery basically done with gold or silver zari threads. It is also known as metal embroidery. It was initially the pattern used to design clothes for the royals. To make it grand, pearls and gems were added to make it look classy and stunning. Although it is made using colored metal threads these days, the royal look of it has not faded. Mirror: This form is usually not done alone, it is in combination with stitches or embroidery. They stitch large and small mirrors to the cloth to make it look regal. Although it was started by the Jats community, it is now a universal style. It is embroidered using colorful threads like red, green, blue, yellow, black, maroon, etc… Whether on your ethnic wear or your indo-western outfit, you can never say no to this look. You are sure to look Indian and sure to look chic.

  3. Kantha Embroidery: This traditional form of embroidery of West Bengal, is also referred to as the running style because It is a simple running stitch made on the edges. The embroidery is done on many layers of cloth. The women of Bengal hand sew this style on cotton saris. The entire cloth is covered with running stitches and usually has beautiful folk motifs, floral motifs, animal and birds figures and geometrical shapes. Chikankari Embroidery: The state of Uttar Pradesh is considered to be the hub of Chikankari. The name was derived from the word ‘Chakeen' which means elegant patterns. It was earlier done with white thread on muslin clothes. But these days its seen on various types of fabrics like cotton, linen nylon, georgette, chiffon and synthetic fabrics. It is not only done on white colored cloths like before, but also fabrics of various colors. The thread however is generally white. Phulkari: As the name suggests Phulkari is the embroidery of flower motifs. It is predominant in the states of Haryana and Punjab. The style covers the entire piece of cloth with its designs leaving no gaps. What makes is special is the fact that it is stitched on the backside of the cloth, so the design takes shape in the front. The contrast of dull cloth and bright coloured threads makes it gorgeous.
