  3. FALL PROTECTION When protection is in place & used correctly., it works. The more you know about Fall Protection in Construction the safer you’ll be. Your life & their life depends on it.

  4. LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Rule 1086 – Safety belts, life lines & safety nets “…workers exposed to possibility of falls shall be secured by safety belts & lifelines.” • Rule 1081 – every employer shall at its own expense furnish his workers with protective equipment

  5. DUTIES OF EMPLOYERS Take every reasonable precaution to protect workers • Create & enforce safe work procedures & policies • Provide safe equipment, devices, materials • Appoint competent supervisors • Provide adequate training to workers

  6. DUTIES OF SUPERVISORS • Advise workers of any existing or potential hazard • Ensure each worker works in safety manner • Ensure workers use PPE & protective devices • Provide appropriate instructions related to safety

  7. DUTIES OF WORKERS • Use prescribed equipment, tools, protective devices • Follow all safe work practices & procedures • Report to supervisors any noted hazards

  8. FALL CONTROLS • Guardrails required if workers is exposed to a fall of 2.4 m (8 ft) or more from any of the following work surfaces: • Floor • Surface of a bridge • Roof while formwork is in place • Scaffold platform, runway, ramp
