  2. Find the mass of the individual compounds and add them to find the molecular mass: a). C 8 X 12.01 g/mol = 96.08 H 10 X 1.008 g/mol = 10.08 N 4 X 14.01 g/mol = 56.04 O 2 X 16.00 g/mol = + 32.00 194.2g/mol b). C 12 X 12.01 g/mol = 144.12 H 22 X 1.008 g/mol = 22.176 O 11 X 16.00 g/mol = + 176.00 342.296 g/mol c). C 2 X 12.01 g/mol = 24.02 H 6 X 1.008 g/mol = 6.048 O 1 X 16.00 g/mol = + 16.00 46. 088 g/mol

  3. Next, divide the total molecular mass by the mass of carbon in the molecule and multiply by 100: a). Total mass→194.2 carbon mass 96.08 X 100 = 49.47% b). Total mass→ 342.4 carbon mass 144.1 X 100 = 42.10% c). Total mass→ 46.09 carbon mass 24.04 X 100 = 52.25%

  4. So, the mass of Ethanol (C2H5OH) has the largest percent of carbon, next is Caffeine, then last is Sucrose!!!!
