Iowa Testing, 6-8 Grade Level, this year • Students had a passage to read, then 5 questions with multiple choice answers: • In the marked line, what does “disorient” mean? • Which picture shows a light that helps reduce light pollution? • Which sentence states the main idea? • How is the third paragraph organized? • Which website is most likely to have accurate information about where night skies are darkest?
Grade 8 - Literacy • In “Meditation XVII,” which phrase best supports the idea that all people are connected? • Below is information from the passage, “The Meditations.” Organize the information by moving each phrase from the passage into the proper section of the table.
The author of “Meditation XVII” and the author of “The Meditations” suggest that each individual is an import part of society. Show how this idea is developed in those passages and also illustrated in the article “To the Rescue of Birds in Oil Spill: A Fifth Grader.” Use evidence from the passages to support your response.
