Background • EGEE-II counts 91 contractors and 48 JRU members • Need to rationalise the consortium in view of preparation of EGEE-III and EGI projects • National Grid Initiatives will be the mainstay of EGI structure • JRU mechanism used in EGEE-II can serve as a mechanism to organise those countries where a NGI is not yet in place • NOTE: The concept of the creation of JRU for academic/research partners in each country receiving EU co-funding was endorsed by the PMB at the EGEE-III workshop of 17 October 2006 EGEE JRU Workshop, 1st December 2006

Goals of the workshop • To present the special clause and its mode of operation in the project • To present 'working' JRUs and their different set-up to show alternatives in types of agreements and Modus Operandi • To encourage the formation of JRUs, where NGIs are not yet formed, to facilitate the transition to EGI • To highlight potential issues and to discuss mitigation possibilities through a dedicated, open Q&A session • Proposal to set up a “helpdesk” composed of JRU representatives and the PO to help advise JRUs in the making EGEE JRU Workshop, 1st December 2006
