  1. LGfL and Brent SEN ProjectMaking the Most of LGfL Premium Content in an SEN Context

  2. Background • A Brent special school highlighted the lack of specific resources available for children with SEN on LGfL. • Brent submitted a bid for £10,000 to LGfL to fund a working party of five specialist Brent teachers to review and improve the LGfL content. The bid was successful.

  3. Project Aims • Assess to what extent LGfL content is accessible for all learners- review current content • Working Party to obtain differentiated content from the SEN community to meet the needs of students with SEN/LDD • Advise LGfL on the creation and structure of an SEN online forum • Identify possible age inappropriate candidates from LGfL content

  4. Outcomes: Part 1 • Current LGfL content was reviewed and evaluated according to 5 areas of need: PD, VI, HI, SLD, MLD and SEN in mainstream schools • Recommend resources accessible through additional SEN tab on the content grid. SEN

  5. Appendix 2– SEN Tab Layout

  6. Outcomes: Part 2 • Comparison of LGfL/SEN webpage to other grid providers revealed a need to upgrade the current content. • Ideas for an improved SEN area was developed.

  7. Suggested Overview of the SEN Area

  8. SEN Area The Jigsaw Puzzle Idea In the past SEN was sometimes looked at as a separate piece of the jigsaw within a school. The puzzle idea symbolises how all the different SEN areas fit together, giving a complete picture of SEN in education.

  9. SEN Resource Exchange • Idea based on NGfL general educational resource bank • Will provide library of easily available SEN resources • Facility for users to easily submit new or recommended resources • Area could be extended to include all resources and users, not just for SEN. • We have created easily recognisable colour coded symbols to represent each specific SEN area.
