  1. The Southern Colonies Which colony would you pick to live in the new world. I would pick the Southern Colonies. By: Nicholas Mrs. Little’s class

  2. The Geography of the Area • Mostly coastal plains, that was hilly and covered with forest. They did not have to worry about winter. The humidity was so intense that diseases were spread much easier.

  3. The Colonies in the Region • Roanoke-1582 • Virginia-1607 • North Carolina-1653 • South Carolina- 1670 • Georgia-1733

  4. Religion of the Southern Colony • Most were Anglican religion besides Roanoke Which had no practice of religion. These religious ceremonies were held at the church in the middle of the settlement. Religion was very important.

  5. Reasons of the Settlement of the Colonies • South Carolina- Became the leading port and trading center of the south. Georgia- Debtor colony. North Carolina-Trade and profits. Virginia- Trade and profits. Roanoke- Established English colony in the new world.

  6. Climate of the Area • The southern colonies were the hottest of the 13 colonies because they were the farthest down. Dieses spread better because of the hot and humid weather. Did not have to worry about winter.

  7. Food in the Colonies • The colonists ate meats, fish and vegetables. A meat is deer and chicken they farmed and hunted. Another thing is fish because of the ocean on their coast. Last a vegetable was carrots that they farmed.

  8. Education of the Colony • Most southern kids were home schooled or had private tooters. By the sound of it education was a little important.
