  3. Aims for Year 4 • To encourage responsibility and independent learning • To prepare children for the future through the Programme of Inquiry and the Learner Profile

  4. EXPECTATIONS Be an example to others in the school Be co-operative and caring School rules of respect Behaviour and Work Learn to become inquirers Be self-organised and responsible To be able to reflect on their learning and their work Be motivated and aim to be the best they can be

  5. Daily Routines • Communication: Diary/Email • Timetables: Weekly PE and music • Coming to school prepared (stationery) • Borrowing Books: Library • Reading record in back of homework book • Uniform/Wearing PE Kit/Equipment

  6. Homework Homework will start on Monday 3rd September. This will be given out every 2 weeks in the form of a grid. It needs to be returned on the following Wednesday 12th September. Links for computer games and research can be found on ‘The Buzz’. The tasks on the grid will include: -Reading: 15-20 minutes/daily -Literacy: spelling activities -An inquiry related task -Daily typing practice using the BBC Dance Mat programme -Maths related to current focus

  7. SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD AT HOME • Provide a suitable place when homework needs to be done • Any problems regarding homework, please put a note in their diary on Tuesday • Encourage your child to organise time for homework and to hand it in on time • Organise playdates and outdoor activities

SHARING THE PLANET Ecosystems can be changed by a variety of factors Day Trip to Hong Kong Wetland Park. Dates to be advised. WHO WE ARE The body systems interact and work together for us to be able to function

  9. FOOD (SNACK AND LUNCHES) Please provide your child with a healthy, nutritious snack and lunch. We encourage children not to share their food. Food Allergies: NO NUTS -Please be aware that we have students in the school with severe, life threatening allergies to nuts. If your child does have a severe allergy, please ensure that you have informed the school in writing.

Reporting to Parents • Completed sections of reports can be accessed throughout the year (eg UOI Comments) • End of year reports can be downloaded as a PDF document and printed off by parents - the school will not be sending home a hard copy of the report this year • Parent/Teacher consultations (Oct/Nov) - booking appointments will be online through Gateway • Usernames and login passwords have been sent to new families (including Y1)
