VISION • Academic and Public Libraries working hand in hand to provide greater information access to the Thohoyandou Community. • MISSION • To optimally utilise skills and expertise by nurturing lifelong learning, access to technology and personal growth and development through unique COOPERATION.
OBJECTIVES Negotiate an agreement between both LIS sectors to facilitate cooperation Provide broader access to LIS user communities To provide a mutually conducive environment to the LIS user communities Equip LIS user communities with information skills Developing and sharing HR expertise. To facilitate cross - sectorial marketing initiatives.

How can we work together? • Shared resources and services e.g. collections, interlibrary loans, online services, professional assistance • Facilities e.g. training rooms, auditorium, learning commons, study, group work, learning, computer spaces, kiddies corners • Library orientation, information skills literacy training, reading programs, train the trainer workshops • Career planning, internships • Job shadowing train the trainer workshops • Combined marketing initiative • Creative initiatives eg. Poetry, topic presentations, local history.
IN CONCLUSION • Resource sharing leads to greater access. • Early exposer to academic environment – more confident users. • Cost savings – optimal usage of funds. • Better service delivery to our clients • Increased used of resources • Greater number and wider range of users. • HR sharing. • Knowledge sharing and transfer. • Empowered and informed local community.
