VISION • Academic and Public Libraries working hand in hand to provide greater information access to the Thohoyandou Community. • MISSION • To optimally utilise skills and expertise by nurturing lifelong learning, access to technology, personal growth and development through unique COOPERATION.
OBJECTIVES Negotiate an agreement between both LIS sectors to facilitate cooperation Provide broader access to LIS user communities To provide a mutually conducive environment to the LIS user communities Equip LIS user communities with information skills Developing and sharing HR expertise. To facilitate cross - sectoral marketing initiatives.
How can we work together? • Shared resources and services e.g. collections, interlibrary loans, online services, professional assistance • Facilities e.g. training rooms, auditorium, learning, study, group work, computer spaces, kiddies corners • Training e.g. library orientation, information skills literacy, AET programmes, reading programs • Career planning & career exhibitions • Student internships, workshops, presentations • Staff e.g. job shadowing train the trainer workshops • Combined marketing initiatives on community topics • Creative initiatives e.g. Poetry, topical presentations, local history.
