The Principles • The Addition Principle: If we add the same amount to both sides of an equation, the result is an equivalent equation.a = b is equivalent to a + c = b + c • Multiplication Principle: If we multiply the same non-zero amount to both sides of an equation, the result is an equivalent equation.a = b is equivalent to ac = bc
Activity #2 • We are going to work a problem on a separate sheet that is an in class group activity. These activities count as a quiz in the grade book. • Form into groups of three. Take a minute and introduce yourself and tell the person how the class is going for you and any ideas on how to succeed in math • We will take about three minutes or so to work on the problem solo, then as a group. It is OK if you don’t get it right away!!
