Important Information for 11th Grade Parents: Academic Requirements and Upcoming Events

Join us for the 11th Grade Parent Meeting to discuss critical academic policies and student requirements for graduation. Students need 27 high school credits and 64 credit hours for their associate's degree, including English IV and Spanish or online foreign language classes. Important policies include being on campus Monday to Friday, mandatory attendance in classes or the Junior room, and using the finger scanner. Additionally, we’ll cover Junior Seminar details, college application processes, and an exciting Coastal College Trip. Let's work together to ensure our students' success!

  1. 11th Grade Parent Meeting

  2. Academics • Need 27 High School Credits to graduate • Need 64 Credit Hours to receive their Associates degree • English IV = English 111, 112, 241 • Spanish 111 & 112 or High school foreign language online I & II • Dropping a class is only allowed for administrative reasons

  3. Junior Policies • Must be on campus 9-4 Monday – Friday • Must be in class or in the Junior room unless they have permission • Must use finger scanner when coming on and leaving campus. • Must start on the 7th, but can check out at 12:30 with a note. One note can list the dates from Aug 7 -14. Classes begin Aug. 15. • Must pass all classes in the spring semester to have a flex schedule.

  4. Junior Seminar • It is an online class designed to help students be successful in their junior year. • Mostly a checklist of things they should be doing. • Friday activities count toward seminar grade • Service Learning Project • Pass/Fail grading

  5. Applying to College • Cabarrus County College Fair – TBA • Students should start to narrow their choices • Plan some family college visits • Talk with admission representatives • Will take the ACT • Need to take the SAT • Pick best test and take again

  6. Junior Trip • Coastal College Trip 2 Day/1 Night $250 in the spring semester • Elon • UNCW • ECU • Campbell
