Review your schedule: take a balanced and challenging set of courses • Focus on study habits and obtaining good grades; they are a part of your permanent record • Plan on attending the Greater Indianapolis Southside College Fair at U Indy on March 11th from 6:30- 8:00 pm • Take the PLAN as a 9th grader and the PSAT as a 10th grader What should we be doing now for college?

  5. www.indianacollegecosts.org • Indiana College Cost Estimator • Comprehensive website of college search and selection • FREE Students received the information during their English classes on November 12th. Submit ASAP to receive profile results by December 5th. Results will be reviewed at C9 beginning at 6:30 pm. National Center for College Costs

  6. Graduation Requirements • WCHS requires one credit each in Digital Citizenship and Preparing for College and Careers • Must earn 46 credits for a Core 40 and 46 for both AHD and THD • Quantitative Reasoning Courses

  7. AHD Definitions • 4th year math options are pre-calculus, AP Stats, Finite Math + Probability and Statistics • No D’s for semester grades • GPA is based off of 8 semesters • AP = Advanced Placement • Dual Credit

  8. THD Definitions • 6 credits in College and Career Pathway (usually C9, Telecommunications, or WBA) • Work Keys and Accuplacer are tests that can be given at school

  9. Grade 10 Graduation Requirements • English • Math • Science • PE2 • Social Studies (if not taken in grade 9) • Failed 9th grade Semester 1 courses Algebra, English, Biology, Social Studies, Prep College/Career, Digital Citizenship, PE1, Health Elective Courses • Exploratory • College/Post High School Preparation • Career Directed 10th Grade Focus

Complete their PINK scheduling worksheet using the yellow scheduling script and online curriculum guide. • Students should turn in BLUE Central 9 and the special elective course applications (newspaper, yearbook, PEER) to the WCHS-9 office • Week of December 9thstudents will choose courses in Powerschool during Biology Class. Bring the PINK worksheet with parent signature to class that day. • Students & parents have until January 6th to make changes online • Counselors will review class choices throughout semester 2 Course Selection Timeline

Use the YELLOW scheduling script • The 2014-2015 Curriculum Guide is located on the high school website under Guidance Academic Information Curriculum Guide • Utilize EdModo or email to communicate scheduling questions • Extra scheduling worksheets and C9 applications are available in the main office at WCHS-9 Resources

Schedule request changes must be completed online by January 6th. • Parent signature required on PINKscheduling worksheet – due December 20 to the WCHS 9 main office • Central Nine Applications • Return to the WCHS 9 office • Have scheduling questions between now and the end of the semester? Contact Mrs. Austin • After January 6th, scheduling questions should be directed to your student’s 10th grade counselor Wrap-Up
