2. Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, collect your baggage, meet and greet with the chauffeur guide, and proceed on your tour of the island. (Approx. 1 hr. travel time) Check in at the hotel and refresh. Leave for a Half day city tour of Colombo including the visits to the Commercial, Residential and Bazaar areas. Lunch in Colombo (Not included) One of the biggest temples in Colombo with a vibrant mix of architecture, Gangaramaya Temple adjoining the Beira Lake is about 150 years old and has a museum and library within the premises. The National Museum Colombo founded in 1877, holds important regalia signifying ancient history of the island; including crowns, thrones and weapons of Kandyan monarchs. British Colonial Architecture on York Street, Galle Face beach and promenade, Colombo Lighthouse, Independence Square and arcade, Colombo Lighthouse and many more can be witnessed. Return to the hotel. Dinner in Colombo (Not included) Overnight in Colombo on BB basis. Day 2: After breakfast, leave to Kandy en-route visiting the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage in time to witness the bathing and bottle feeding of elephants which have been abandoned by their herds in the wild. (Approximate travel time 2.5 hours to Pinnawela, 1 hour to Kandy) Also visit a spice garden to see spices growing in their natural habitat and learn about spices and their use in Sri Lankan cuisine, en-route. Arrive at your destination. Lunch in Kandy (Not included). Check in and relax at the hotel. Kandy: This lovely city is the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka and was the last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings. It still retains an aura of grandeur which has been unaffected by time. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its center, it is the site of the renowned “Temple of the Tooth” and the Royal Botanical Gardens - home to one of Asia’s best Orchid collections. Kandy and its satellite villages are the center of the island’s handicraft industry and its traditional dances are the most lively and spectacular in the country. Dinner in Kandy (Not included). Overnight in Kandy on BB basis. Day 3: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. The Botanical Gardens is 147 acres in extent, stated in 1374 as a Pleasure garden of the Kings of Kandy. There are more than 5000 species of tree and plants as well as some rare and endemic flora from the tropical world. Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. This is haven not only for scientists but to every nature lover as well. The afternoon will be spent sightseeing in Kandy including Arts & Crafts workshop, Oriental Market Place, Bazaar and Gem Lapidary. 3. Lunch in Kandy (Not included). Evening: Witness a cultural show. (Optional) Return to the hotel, spend the evening at leisure. Dinner in Kandy (Not included). Overnight in Kandy on BB basis. Day 4: After Breakfast Take to the misty mountains of Nuwara Eliya where you will be able to visit a lush green tea plantation and the famous Ramboda falls en route. Join the tea pluckers as they pick the famous tea leaf and a bud before being introduced the process of manufacturing some of the world’s finest tea. Enjoy gorgeous vistas of the surrounding countryside before retreating to the warmth of your hotel. (Approximate travel time 3 hours to Nuwara Eliya). Nuwara eliya -Sri Lanka's premier hill resort with a fine bracing mountain climate, it is also the heart of Sri Lanka's tea country, producing some of the world’s best tea. The mountain slopes and valleys are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls. Lunch en-route or in Nuwara Eliya. (Not included). Check in and relax at the hotel. Evening: City tour in the cold city, Enjoy an evening walk by the Gregory’s Lake. Lunch in Nuwara Eliya. (Not included). Overnight in Nuwara Eliya on BB basis. Day 5: After Breakfast check out and proceed to your beach resort. Proceed to Bentota after breakfast via Kitulgala, the famous film location site “The Bridge on the River Kwai”. (Approximate travel time 5 hours to Bentota) Optional: White water rafting excursion and transfer to beach hotel of choice. This short but exhilarating excursion is “level 03” and is suitable for most people between the ages 08 to 60. This can be booked and paid direct at site. Lunch en-route to Waskaduwa. (Not included).
