  1. To be successful today… Pick up graded work (1) Pull out photosynthesis notes & foldable

  2. Warm-Up THURS 11/2 • Draw and label a molecule of ATP • Explain how ATP releases energy? • Draw a lightning bolt on your ATP drawing indicating which bond is broken to release energy. • What is the energy released from ATP used for? • Why can’t the cell use glucose for energy?

  3. Photosynthesis Essential Question: How is the energy in sunlight transferred to the bonds of glucose?

  4. Originally, the energy in food comes from the sun.

  5. Photosynthesis is the process by which the energy of sunlight is converted into the energy of glucose

  6. Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplasts of plant leaves

  8. In/out thru stomata • Reactants (requires): water (H2O) & carbon dioxide (CO2) • Products (makes): oxygen (O2) & glucose (C6H12O6) In thru roots

  9. Photosynthesis • Oxygen is released as waste through the stomata (small pores on the underside of the leaf) • This is the oxygen that YOU breathe!!!

  10. The formula for photosynthesis:
