  1. Deoxyribonucleic acid Page 101-102 Rosalind Franklin?? 1952---Used X-ray method to photograph DNA molecules James Watson and Francis Crick? Figured out structure of DNA---1953 Developed model we use today Won Nobel Prize 1962 Explain the appearance of the DNA model Looks like a twisted ladder or spiral staircase sides and rungs

  2. Sides of DNA ladder made of? Two sides are made of molecules of deoxyribose (sugar) and phosphates---in alternating bands Rungs made of? Pair of nitrogen bases (molecules) Name the four nitrogen bases. Adenine (AD uh neen) Thymine (THY meen) Guanine (GWAH neen) Cytosine (SY tuh seen) Bases pair---which ones? A and T G and C Pairing pattern is key to Replication of DNA T A G C

  3. Explain DNA replication --2 sides of the DNA molecule unwind and separate between the nitrogen bases like a zipper unzipping --nitrogen bases that are floating in the nucleus pair up with bases on each side of the DNA molecule --Order of bases should exactly match the original DNA molecule A always with T G always with C DNA Replication DNA Replication DNA Replication.htm

  4. Fun DNA Facts! DNA is too small to see, but under a microscope it looks like a twisted up ladder! DNA stands for:D: DeoxyriboseN: NucleicA: Acid Every living thing has DNA. That means that you have something in common with a zebra, a tree, a mushroom and a beetle!!!!

  5. You can tell people apart by their fingerprints… Because everyone’s fingerprints are different!

  6. DNA is like a fingerprint because everyone’s is a little different!
