  2. Fun funny • fun : something that is enjoyable. Something that we enjoy • Going to Fenway Park to watch the Red Sox is fun! • funny : something that makes us laugh • Tom’s jokes are really funny. I never laughed so hard!

  3. lose loose • lose : is a present tense verb. It has 2 meanings: • 1. to no longer possess something because you do not know where it is • 2. not to win or tie in a game or sport, to be beaten • Try not to lose this pen, it’s the only one I have. • loose : is an adjective which means the opposite of tight. Something which does not fit properly is loose. • Her shirt is too loose, because she is so thin.

  4. Advise advice • advise : to recommend , the verb form • I would advise you to check the weather forecast before you plan a picnic at the beach. • advice : recommend , the noun form • She never listens to my advice.

  5. Embarrassed ashamed • embarrassed : to feel uncomfortable in a social situation because of your actions or because of what someone has done to you. • I felt embarrassed when I tripped on the sidewalk. Everyone saw me. • ashamed : to feel guilt or strong embarrassment over your actions • I am ashamed to tell you that I was suspended from college for cheating on a final exam.

  6. lend borrow • lend : to give something to someone. They will give it back to you when they are finished with it. • I will lend you my car while yours is being repaired. • borrow : to receive or “get” something from someone for a short period • Can I borrow your pen, please?

  7. Accept except • accept : to receive or agree to something • He accepted their invitation to dinner. • except : not including ; excluding • Everyone was in class last week, except Tim.
