Background • Purpose • Clarify the D2D-WAN UE capability according to the single component carrier and multi component carrier supporting UE. • Background • RAN WG4 only consider D2D UE’s impact to the legacy LTE system and LTE UE in inter-frequency into inter-device. • RAN4 send LS [1] out for D2D Tx-WAN Tx UE-coexistence study for inter-device • RAN4 send LS [2] out for D2D Rx- WAN Rx impact according to the single component carrier and multi component carrier supporting UE. • Need to investigation for all scenarios in intra-device • D2D Tx-WAN Rx • D2D Tx-WAN Tx • D2D Rx-WAN Rx • D2D Rx-WAN Tx

Proposals • General • Proposal 1: RAN4 shall prioritize RF work for D2D-WAN on single component carrier over D2D-WAN on multiple component carriers. • D2D-WAN on single Component Carrier • Proposal 2: UE capability of simultaneous D2D and WAN: • D2D Tx and WAN Tx: WAN Tx is prioritized in case of time domain conflict • D2D Tx and WAN Rx: Possible, but need appropriate Tx-Rx separation • D2D Rx and WAN Tx: Not possible. • D2D Rx and WAN Rx: Possible if additional D2D Rx RF chain is available. • Observation1: D2D Tx or Rx support may impact the UE’s WAN capabilities: • Ability of UE to WAN Rx on DL of FDD band • WAN DL and/or UL MIMO capability • Gapless inter-frequency / inter-RAT measurement capability

Proposals • D2D-WAN on Multi Component Carrier • Proposal 3: UE capability of simultaneous D2D and WAN: • D2D Tx and WAN Tx: Possible, but need to investigate impact due to power imbalance and timing difference (when D2D uses DL timing). Depends on CC1 and CC2 (e.g., inter-band vs intra-band). • D2D Tx and WAN Rx: Possible, and depends on CC1 and CC2. • D2D Rx and WAN Tx: Not possible for CC1 and CC2 belonging to same operating band due to short guard gap. Possible for inter-band CC1 and CC2, and depending on the operating bands. • D2D Rx and WAN Rx: Possible if additional D2D Rx RF chain is available. • Observation2: D2D Tx or Rx support on CC1 with simultaneous WAN on CC2 may impact the UE’s WAN CA capabilities: • Ability of UE to WAN Tx on CC2 • Ability of UE to WAN Rx on CC2 • WAN DL and/or UL MIMO capability • ca-BandwidthclassUL (for D2D Tx) or ca-BandwidthclassDL (for D2D Rx) for intra-band contiguous CA with CC2. • Gapless inter-frequency / inter-RAT measurement capability
