  9. “Anti” moved his blog to MSN Spaces last October after his blog-city bog was blocked. But on December 30th the entire contents of his new blog were deleted by Microsoft personnel from the MSN Spaces servers.

  10. MSN Spaces test blog: Effort to post “Falun Gong” in blog post title gets error message: “This item contains Forbidden language. Please remove the forbidden language From this item.”

  11. Same results when attempting to post “Tibetan Independence” in the blog’s title. This is all done from the U.S. on a U.S. ISP. That means, Microsoft is preventing Chinese bloggers WORLDWIDE from writing on these subjects.

  12. Efforts to post forbidden words in the text body (not titles of the posts) were ultimately Successful.

  13. …however 4 days later, the whole blog containing those sensitive words was shut down from inside the MSN system. Thus, by Microsoft employees. (NOTE: due to bad publicity in early January, Microsoft says they now only do this in response to Chinese government formal requests, and access is denied only to Chinese PRC users viewing from Chinese ISP’s.)

  14. MSN Spaces now hosts blog by sister of detained filmmaker Wu Hao. As of April 4th it is not blocked to Chinese internet users. This is an example of how public criticism helped change Microsoft practice and policy.
